For this week, you have been asked to read the first of two longer web essays we will be discussing in the second half of the class, Snowfall: The Avalanche at Tunnel Creek, as well as two shorter pieces discussing the making of this piece.
This essay represents a very sophisticated example of a web essay. Don't worry...a design team took six months creating this essay; I won't be asking you to replicate this level of essay alone in six weeks. But what this essay does is changes the way that we think about the interaction of text, images, video, and graphic design.
For this discussion board, I would like you to address the ways that the individual elements of text, video, image, and movement/graphic design combine to enhance the concepts of time and space. Where were the combination of elements used particularly effective for you as a reader/viewer? And finally, what elements can you take away from Snowfall to apply to your own digital essay? How might you use the same (or similar) elements that this web text uses for effect in your Essay Two?
Provide specific examples in this discussion (you can't cite your source in the same way that you would with a traditional essay, but try to describe the sections you are discussing with as much accuracy as possible).
